One of our border collies had puppies on Friday nite,
yep they always seem to have them in the middle of
the nite
She had four, but one was born dead
Anyway, there is a guy that Mike works with
who's border collie/shepherd cross just had puppies
on Thursday and Mike was saying that they had to take
the old dog in to the vets and they did a ceserean!!
Turns out the momma died, and she had 11 puppies!! yikes!
So they had been trying to feed these wee things at
the vets and the poor guys kept dying so they only
had 5 left. The vet suggested that if they knew anyone
who just had puppies that maybe the mom would
surrogate them. Well, they both knew our dog was
expecting and they brought them over yesterday.
The vet is the same one who just did Drifter's cast,
which he had taken off last Tuesday.
Mom seems to be doing very well, she took them in
immediately with no fuss at all!!
So now she had 8 puppies to care for.
The guy has called twice to see how they were doing,
he said they had over $1200 into the vet bill!!
And this morning the vet called to see how they were
doing, lol. He offered to give us a bag of good food
and some vitamins for mom. He just felt so bad for
the family that lost their dog, and most of the puppies.
