Christmas is Over

I didn't have any gifts under the tree to unwrap Mike had stuck the cd's I asked for into my stocking, along with the card that had the money inside so that was it for me. I did get a lovely surprise at work though. When I went in for my first of the four in a row working at Christmas, there were 3 gifts and cards all lined up on our folding table in the laundry room. I got a cute little windchime with farm animals on it, a lovely glass blown ball with cute little snowmen on it and some yummy chocolates from 3 of the girls I work with...it was such a great surprise!!

Me new favourite memory had to do with work. The residents opened their gifts in the morning after breakfast and I had gone out to help. Alot of them had no families there helping them celebrate at all during the holidays, but they got so much joy out of opening the simplest little gifts with just us there to help them out. They couldn't get the tape open on the gifts and some had problems telling just what was inside without help....it was just a great feeling helping them out in such a simple way

Christmas Eve 2006

I didn't have to brave the malls as I have been ready for awhile...kinda scary really, lol!! I have never been this prepared before!

Kids went to bed about a half hour ago and Mike has just gone down to the garage to get the presents from 'Santa'. Once I get them around the tree and the stockings filled, I'm off to bed! Gotta work tomorrow, but they are letting me come in 2 hours later, so I can at least spend some of the morning with the kids opening presents.

They were pretty excited when I tucked them in tonite...ya gotta luv it!!

Our Tree This Year

Well here it is, I took this this morning,

you get a pic of the tree and a pic of the kids
with our injured pooch!!lol
Not a great pic of the tree, the lights aren't really
showing well in the morning light,
but we dont' care for a lot of fluff,
mainly just tree!!lol
Can't put the rest of the decorations on now
that I found them cuz it's a spruce and we need
to get some of those little metal hooks!
I had some but they've gone missing too!

Pic of our Broken Pooch

Here he is Drifter!

This pooch is a cat, I swear!
He has nine lives and has already used up 2
and he's not even 3 years old yet, lol!!

Last year he got deathly ill and racked up a huge
bill at the vets when he just stopped eating,
he was getting sick and wearing away to nothing!
I think he must have gotten some kind of poisoning
or something...heck the vet doesn't even know
what it was still for sure....thankfully, after a stay
there and some intervenous feeding he was at least
well enough to come home though he still wouldn't eat
much and was very listless. He recouperated though
and was as good as normal in a few months.

Now he's done gone and broken a leg.
Not sure if you saw my other post on this,
but he got hit by a car. Luckily for him and us,
the car saw him and he saw the car and they
both put the brakes on and he only suffered a broken
leg....could have been much worse!

Now just 6 weeks with the cast on,
and we have to try and keep him still so the cast
doesn't rug to much and cause sores....
ya, keep a border collie still!!lol

My Wicked Weekend!

 I had a wonderful weekend

Got my shopping finished up on Friday,
and had to work Saturday.

After work I boogied home and we headed for my
sisters just north of where I work.
All of my step family was there and it was so good to
see them! We had a great time, in all there were
26 of us there. We got home about 11:30 that nite
and I opened up a card that my step-gramma had given
me and inside was a wad of cash!! I couldn't believe my
eyes and almost cried as I showed it to Mike.
How very generous that was of her!!
I phoned her at my sisters house the next morning to say thanx
so much and she said she was happy to do it.

I played hookey from work the next day
cuz Mike's work was  having a 'brunch' at one of the
restaurants here in town. It was pretty much a
hot buffet with sausage, bacon, pancakes, homefries,
cinnamon rolls, fruit, punch and juices.
We all went and had a good breakfast!

That day turned a little sour when the kids were
getting home from Sunday school though

Our red border collie Drifter was hit by a car!
Luckily though the other driver  saw him and had
slowed down and Drifter had seen the car and slowed
down so it ended up he broke his leg, which in all
is just another adventure for us now, in trying to keep
a border collie still, lol, and trying to keep the cast dry
until the end of January! Could have turned out
much worse so I am thrilled that that is the least of
our worries!

Then Sunday nite we were off to the church to watch
3 of the kids in a Christmas concert. They were soooo
adorable!!!lol Afterwards they had snacks in the
basement and I've never seen so many goodies
before in one place, lol!! Yummmmmmy, is all I have to say!
A few of the ladies came up to me and told me what
wonderful kids I had and that it was a pleasure to have
them there. They were so well behaved and polite....
and I have to say that as a mom, that is the greatest
compliment I could ever get!!! I was beaming
We were off to McDonalds afterward which we
just brought home to eat while watching the season
finale of Survivor and drat if my fav Ozzie didn't win!lol

But all in all it was just a great family weekend,
a lot of time spent together just bonding with people
we love.....what a great prelude to what I hope will
be a great holiday season!

Well, That was Awkward!

Okay, I've never had this happen to me before, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it!!!

Wednesday after work, I was going out to dinner with some of the girls, so after my shift, I got dressed in my street clothes and put on some perfume....stuff I wear all the time from Avon called Rare Gold. Anyway, I had some stops to make in town before heading down to the restaurant so I stopped at the local Bargain Shop and did a little shopping and got quite a few stocking stuffers

I got up to the cash register and the lady rang in one item and then called over the microphone for someone to come relieve her and then told me that she was allergic to perfume and that mine was really bothering her! Then out the door she ran!

Well, didn't I feel like a real heel standing there!! The other lady came and checked me out and I told her that I hoped the first lady was alright, but when she looked out the door to find her she was nowhere in sight!!I didn't quite know what to feel and was quite embarrassed!

Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I'm thinking that if you have an allergy to perfumes, that the department store where they sell lots of them might now be the best place to work

I'm not sure if I will ever go in the store again

Good Thursday Morning

Not quite sure what's so good about it though, lol!!

I'm just off to take two of the kids to the dentist,
and this afternoon I have to take the car in
to have the brakes checked....
and I'm just hoping that it doesn't cost me an
arm and a leg

Last nite I went out after work with some of the
girls and we had a lovely dinner....
mmmm...Mediterranean pasta with chicken
(and I have left overs in a doggie bag for lunch today, lol)
When I came out to get in the car I put my foot on the
brake and put the car in gear and started rolling
backward!!! Not good!
I drove home though, thank goodness for all those
backroads and no traffic! I think I blew a brake line,
at least I'm hoping that's all it is!

My New Favourite Christmas Movie

I've already started watching Christmas movies to get me in the mood for shopping and decorating, lol!!

I watched 'Noel' yesterday and boy was it inspirational!!

This is my new favourite Christmas movie...it made me cry tears of happiness...which are the best kind. Really makes you think about all the Christmas miracles and how much our lives are intertwined without us even knowing the effect we have on the people around us....I HIGHLY recommend this movie.

It stars Susan Sarandon, Penelope Cruz, Paul Walker and Robin Williams....it's in the video stores now and also on The Movie Network which is where I watched it

Bloomfield Santa Claus Parade

After dropping Cody at work...Hannah and I headed for
the Bloomfield Santa Claus parade. It was just the two of
us at home...very wierd, lol!!

It was late because a few floats couldn't get through the traffic, lol, but it was 45 minutes long! A great parade!

Here's a pic of Hannah singing her heart out along with all the rest of the choir. She's in the second row from the
bottom in black...the one looking at the cameralol

HALLOWE'EN Pic

Colin my 15 y/o gave out the candy at our house...

he's the dead guy, lol!
Colton is a mexican again because believe it or
not we lost the whole box of Hallowe'en costumes
when we did all of our cleaning out this summer!
Hannah is the purple fairy/princess and
the other little girl is her friend from down the street.
Her mom had to work and she was with a babysitter
who didn't drive, so we took her with us.
You can't really walk house to house around here,
it's just too far!

All the kids had a great time and even the rain
held off...thank goodness!

Our Car Died

We almost didn't make it to Carol's dinner yesterday On Friday nite we went into town to pick up a few things, and on the way home the car died!! I made it over half way home going very slowly on the back roads with no headlights, no wipers (and of course it was raining!) holding a flashlight out the window for a bit of light, lol!! Then the battery finally gave out on us and we stopped at the end of a friends driveway. Cody ran home in the ran and got the truck and we towed the car home. It turned out the be the alternator and we took it in yesterday to get fixed, and lucky enough they had it done before it was time to leave for dinner! Dinner was great, so I"m glad we didn't miss it

Today all the boys are going to play laser tag so it'll just be Hannah and Mike and I after they get home from church. I think it will be a very quiet day

I won $100

 On the radio....where else, lol!!

But....I could have won $1,000 if I knew this answer...

'Who's face is on the  U.S. $10,000 bill???'

And I'm like...."there's a $10,000 bill"???lol

Does anyone here know the answer without looking
it uplol

Oh well....$100 is more than I had last nite, lol,
now what to do with it!!?

The little kids thought I should go out and buy them toyslol

Tricia is running for Town Council

Yep, my little sister Tricia.....here she's gibby1977....is running for town council in her hometown of Bracebridge!

I am just so doggone proud of her, you can't even imagine

Good luck to you hun on November 13...wish I could be there with you when you are awaiting the decision. No matter what the outcome, I know you'll still make sure your voice is heard on the issues that you know are important to your community!!

Big Huggz from your big sister....Joan

Colin and I saw George Canyon

We had a fabulous time!! The concert was a great show, so much better than when I heard him in Havelock! Smoke and lights, and running through the crowd!!

This is such a 'me' story, lol.....would you believe he came up into the crowd to get a $5 bill from the woman sitting directly behind me, and I was on the aisle seat...and my camera ran out of batteries!!!!It could only happen to me, LOL!!

My son and his friend had gone up to sit in the very back center seats cuz they were empty and then there was no one sitting in front of them who they had to see through, lol, and George walked to the back and asked them how the view was from there, and said 'Wow, you guys have the whole row to yourselves', lol!!

So no pics but my son came home with a t-shirt, and his friend taped about 40 minutes of the show on his MP3 player

Going for Turkey Dinner

We just dropped Hannah off at a birthday party and as soon as she's done we are on our way to my sisters for thanksgiving dinner/birthday party combined. I worked last weekend and today is her son's b'day so we combine the two every year.

I don't think the older boys are coming this year Cody says it's boring now, especially since Kyle's girlfriend was there last year and she didn't speak a work to either of my boys, lol!!  And Colin has gotten a group of friends together, about 20 of them, and they are right now just starting a game of laser tag, in a big old abandoned building. He knows the people that just started the paintball, laser tag company, and they are giving him a discount for rounding up the guys. Still I don't think the regular $25 is too high a price to pay for 3 hours of laser tag

yikes.....My eye is Swollen

I got up this morning and my eye was only half the size of normal!! It was swollen a bit beneath the eye and just above my eyelid and I have no idea why???

Has anyone ever had this happen?

I'm wondering if the dog slept on my pillow or something cuz it's the side I slept on last nite.

It doesn't hurt but does feel very odd and it hasn't affected my vision at all and the swelling seems to be going down thank goodness

Rosie's Weird Diaper Rash Cure

Alright, not sure how many of you saw my other post about Rosie being on the View now, and just how poor Barbara was going to handle all the 'stuff' that spills out of Rosie's mouth, lol!!

Well yesterday they were talking diaper rash and this is how the dr. told Rosie to cure it, and she said it works!

Let the dog lick the babies bum! The saliva has special whatever's in it (and yes I've heard that when they lick their wounds it heals up because of that) and it cures the diaper rash!

School Bus Problems Already!

We had quite a little excitement with the busses here yesterday! First the boys bus in the morning was 10 minutes early and they missed it, lol. Then when Colton got home on the bus, there was NO HANNAH!!!

Seems she had taken it upon herself to write a note saying she could go to another little girls house and I'm not sure how she got through the teachers and the bus driver who are supposed to see her note signed by both me and the principal, but she did it!!

I had tried the school right away when she wasn't home on the bus and of course all I could get there was a freakin' answering machine and just when I was wondering what the bleep I was going to do, the phone rang and it was Destiny's mom who figured something was up when she asked Hannah if her mommy knew where she was and Hannah looked a little guilty!lol

Sure I can laugh about it now, but wow I'm sure you can all relate to how my heart was racing when it was happening!

Anyway, I talked to the principal today and he is going to look into it and get back to me ASAP!

School's Cool, lol!

Yep, the kids have gone back to class!

YIPPEE!!lol

Really, I will definitely miss them not being
around but....I will be so glad to be back to
some sort of a routine.

And today, on my first day off and I was
all alone and will be for just another
20 minutes or so....
I didn't do a whole lot!!

I had my list made, and got to a really good
start when I pulled the bed sheets off as soon
as I got out and did get 3 loads of wash done
and dried....but beyond that I did nothing!

I watched Regis and Kelly, I've missed them
over the summer.
And though I don't normally watch the 'View'
(I don't like Barbara Walters!)
I did this morning to see Rosie as one of the new
hosts. I honestly can't see her lasting long there
and even this morning she was talking about her
dd and her being in the tub together and her dd
asked "Mommy, when will I get fur?" LMAO!
I can't see Barbara letting stuff like that go by
for long, she's such an old fuddie-duddie

Anyway, I better go and at least get dressed
before Cody gets home soon

Steve Irwin Died doing what He Loved

Steve Irwin the Crocadile Hunter was killed this afternoon.  He was pierced in the heart by a stingray while filming a documentary

This is such sad news....even if you didn't like the guy, he did alot for the education of the world on edangered species and wildlife in general.

My 1st E Bay Purchase

Well, Colin had been bugging and bugging to get this certain pair of shoes

and of course we could not find them anywhere around here, and the stores even said they couldn't order them in either.....so we took the leap and ordered them on Ebay, all the way from a skateboard shop in California

Didn't realize it took soooo long for our payment (we sent a money order) to get there and then for the shoes to make their way back, lol, and we are still waiting! But the guy e-mailed us back and said that they were being shipped as of last Monday, so Colin is hoping it will be any day now...he really wanted them before school started, so we'll see He ended up paying $76 for them and that was with shipping and handling fees too....not bad I guess, seeing as how he's paying himself

Hello

Well I had to work today and in a few minutes

I have to go pick up Hannah from a party she's at
with a few other people from the church.

The big boys are spending the nite at friends' houses
so it's just Mike and I and the little ones.

We had rain here the other nite too, while we
were camping and our brand new tent is not too
waterproof, LOL!!

That's the first time I've slept on the ground in
over 10 years I think, and I am sooooo suprised that
I wasn't feeling all achy today but I feel just great....
I guess I'm not quite as old as I sound, LOL!

I have to work the weekend but I hope
you all have a great one!

Camping

Packing up right now to head out camping,

even if it's just for the overnite!

I have to work Friday right though till next Sunday
with just a day off, so this is the very last
chance the kids and I will have to get camping.

They are really looking forward to it!
We'll be trying out a new campground in the
neighbourhood, and we'll be sleeping in the tent
I can't remember the last time I slept on the ground, lol.

But the truck is acting up and Mike can't take time
at lunch hour to take us there like he usually does,
so the kids and I are packing up the car and the tent
and we're off!
