Colin wins the Music Award

It was way too hot in that school gym....wow!

We were very happy when they announced Colin's name for the music award!!!!Woohoo!! He got a 97 grade in that class and worked very hard to achieve it, so I'm so glad he was rewarded for his efforts. When he went to school yesterday, the music teacher gave him a mug with a tuba on it, lol, cuz she was sure he was going to win

After the ceremony we met his girlfriend, and had treats (strawberries and ice cream too) and then left the kids to their dance. Colin walked his girlfriend home afterward and then I picked him and a few of his friends up and took them all home.

I have to say that it is very strange the first time you see you son holding hands with another woman!!lol

Grad Nite

Our second son is graduating from Grade 8 tonite, and we are gonna swelter in that auditorium!! Yikes!

The poor boys in their suits are gonna melt.

After the ceremony, where Colin is hoping to win the music award (he plays tuba in the band), we are treated to goodies in the courtyard by the grade 7 parents. Then the kids will have a dance till 10:30.

Colin is two years ahead of Cody in that he has a girlfriend already who will be accompanying him. She is in grade 7 at the same school and will be coming to the ceremony as well as the dance. He asked me last nite to pick up a corsage for her so I stopped on the way home from work and they did up a beautiful one with yellow daisies with a little glitter on them, and some white beads.

This will be two down and then two more to go, lol!!

TGIF

And I have the weekend off!!

We're gonna party!! again!!!lol
Mom and my sister will be coming tomorrow,
along with my mil too I think.
That means today I get to clean up the houselol

I'm off to a good start,
banana bread just came out of the oven
and the washer just finished spinning,
so I guess that means it's time to hang them on the line

Colin comes home from his 3 day trip today,
and I'm looking forward to hearing about all
of his adventures. Tomorrow morning him and
Colton are going to a church picnic for lunch.
He's a busy boy, that lad!!lol

I am waiting for a call from Cody,
who went to an overnite tent party last nite.
I'm not too sure I'll make it through these teen
years!! First the girlfriend and now the parties....
and he's just the first one, lol.

Sad News from a Friend

Remember I mentioned about that wacky wedding we went to a couple of weeks ago??

Well Mike just came back from their house, he was out there checking out their new colt born this morning. Anyway the grooms sister was rushed to the hospital this morning with something to do with her asthma and then something happened with her heart and before they could get her out the door to transfer her to a bigger hospital, she passed away. A brother was just arriving to let the groom know what had happened.

We met this woman at the wedding, they sat near us in their lawn chairs with their 4 children, the youngest only about 20 months old She was only 31 and all I can think about is those poor children she left behind

School is Winding Down

Cody is doing exams now, so I'm expecting a call from him this morning to be picked up from the school.

Colin just left this morning for the local university, where his grade 8 class will be staying till Friday. Just to get a feel of what life is like living on campus. They will stay in the dorms there and eat from the cafeteria. He got roomed with his best bud, so he's really looking forward to this trip. The house will be quiet without him around for sure.

Colton went on a trip to the Toronto Zoo on Monday and had lots of fun. I had originally signed up to volunteer on the trip but then the date changed and I had to work

Hannah had her end of the year party yesterday. We went to the local park and had lots of food and games. It was a gorgoues day for it, thank goodness.

Hannah had a Great Birthday!

Hannah said she had a great day!

It started in the morning when she heard her birthday
announced over the radio, she thought that was pretty cool!!

Then I surprised her by showing up for their school picnic
at 11. We walked with the whole class to the local park
where they had games, watermelon, freezies and water
balloon fights till 2 in the afternoon.

We had her favourite chicken nuggets and fries
when the kids got home from school and then she opened
her gifts before we went to the soccer.
She got lots of Disney Princess goodies, which is her
current favourite thing, lol.
Then we had cake and ice cream when we got home.

This weekend we get to do it all over again
when gramma and her cousins come for a family party

Happy Birthday Hannah

It's here at last...summer time! And along with that is Hannah's birthday. She turned 5 on the 21st. We spent most of the day together, even though she had school. I volunteered and her whole class went for a walk to the park, where we picnicked, played games, and had a water balloon toss. I have had a busy week and a half and really needed some sleep, so after Mike suggested it this morning, I decided to go back to bed after the kids were all on the bus. Welllllll....that didn't work, lol!! I crawled back in and though it felt lovely, I also felt guilty for not getting something done, so I got back up, showered and went off to meet Hannah at the school. We had a quick supper and she opened up her gifts and then we were off to soccer, where she had fun playing with friends she has met there. Colin's team tied their game, which is definitely better than a loss...right?

I got back last Friday from the most terrific week!! I had won a member scholarship through our union (UFCW) and it was an all expense paid trip to Mississauga to learn a bit about computers at their training center there. Sunday morning before I left, I was so nervous...I had butterflies and felt nauseous all morning! It was a 3 hour drive for me, and I checked into the hotel at about 3:30. Not sure yet if I would have a roommate or not, I left for our orientation with a kind man who offered to taxi some of us there. Had a great time meeting the other 11 people who had also won and learned that I would not be sharing a hotel room, but would have it all to myself. Was a little giddy when I got back (half a bottle of wine shared with a good friend I met, Lorraine ) and had a tough time deciding just which of the two beds I would sleep in that nite, lol!! A little jumping on them helped me pick the one furthest from the door, yet closest to the air conditioner....it was stifling outside to say the least!

The whole week was spent learning, eating, drinking, eating, drinking, playing pool, drinking...and pushing our stalled car off of a busy six lane highway! Everyone there was so kind and we all gelled like we'd known each other forever. It's an experience I will never forget and I count myself very lucky to have taken part in something that was so far out of my realm. I hardly ever stray far from home, least of all to meet strangers! I barely had time to miss my family, thank goodness...until Friday when I called home and Hannah answered and she just sounded so grown up!!...like she had aged since I left 5 days earlier! I wasn't the only one to get a little teary eyed though as we said our goodbyes, and received lots of goodies from the union.

Since I've been home, I have been working and took us all out to Pizza Hut Friday when I got home. Saturday nite after work, Mike and I and the two youngest went out to visit with friends whose wedding we attended the Saturday before. They needed help finishing off a keg they had purchased....and well...who were we to refuse!! More sleep deprivation for me,as I had to work the next morning and was still trying to get caught up on all my sleepless nites at the hotel. Finally when I had today off, I spent it at the school so still have nothing done around the house, and I need to be getting ready for visitors this weekend as we have my mom and sister down to celebrate Hannah's birthday with family.

Getting tired just thinking about it, lol, and no wonder it's after 2 in the morning here, so I better get my tush into bed, as 7 comes early to get the kids ready for school!

CheckIn in from Toronto

We just got done lunch here at the training course

and I'm stuffed. I had left over pasta from last
nites dinner.
Our teacher at the course took us all out for dinner and drinks
and then we played pool for awhile downstairs.

We had a great time!

I am having a WONDERFUL TIME!!!

What in the world was I so worried about lol!!!??

This is so fun!! I am writing from the computer lab right now,
and class started 4 minutes ago!!

We ran into some problems with a car last nite and
had to push it off of a busy 8 lane highway!

Got a taxi back to the hotel and then off to Montana's
for supper, 6 of us. Then back to the hotel for drinks
in one of the guys rooms and I made it back to my
room by 1 am.

Wedding Hoe Down

Mike and I attended a wedding yesterday where the bride and groom rode out on their horses.

When we got there, we knew it was going to be casual, it was at their farm, but I felt overdressed when I saw them in jeans and a white tank top, and both of their tops had holes in them!!lol

Anyway, we had a lot of fun. There were greased pigs to catch, a huge bonfire, a water fight, a beef BBQ and they had made their own wedding cake, a huge horseshoe.

What's the wackiest wedding you've ever attended?

Good Morning And Goodbye

Well, it's that time already,
and my stomach is in knots!!

I leave today around 1 for the big city of
Toronto which is about 3 hours from here.
I am hoping to beat the traffic from all of the cottagers
returning home from the weekend.

We have an orientation and social tonite at 7.
I will be gone until Friday sometime, not too sure
what time I will be back home.

I talked to my sister who lives up that way and her
hubby goes right by my hotel on his way home from work
so he will be stopping to pick me up so I can go
for a visit once or twice in the week.

Since it's a computer course, I imagine I will have access
to the internet and a little free time to play....at least
I hope so!!!!!lol I will be having major withdrawls if not, lol.

Have a great week everyone, I'm gonna miss you all

The heat has finally broke

The heat here has finally broken and it promises

to be a gorgeous day!
It was already 18 celsius when we woke but there
is absolutely no humidity and it's wonderful!

This is my day off and in fact I only have one more
day of work before I leave for my trip to the city.

I can't believe it has come so fast
and I'm already getting butterflies in the
pit of my stomach thinking about it.

The kids only have a half day of school today
so not sure if I will have to share or not, lol!!
