Our Easter Weekend

Well, I finally made it, lol!

We just got done a yummy spaghetti
dinner and some left over birthday cake,
then got Hannah bathed.
Now I feel like it's really late and here
it is only 7!

Cody loved his birthday gifts and we all played his favourite
game last nite, Cranium. Well that was after Mike and him
had a go at poker, which they were also watching on tv.
I actually got to see the very end of Desperate Housewives
last nite as I crawled into bed just before 10.
I have tomorrow and Wednesday off finally though so I should be around a little more often the next couple of days.

Oh, forgot to mention....yesterday morning as I was playing Easter Bunny before I left for work, I was barely finished and Colton came downstairs!! Pheww...almost
caught in the act!
He noticed that the Easter Bunny had not left anything for me,
(I always get Mike at least a bunny that the kids get)
and was was happy to hear when I got home from work that
the EAster Bunny had left something for me there!

Spring has Sprung!

We had a wonderful holiday weekend here despite the fact that I had to work all four days of the long Easter Weekend. The weather could not have been more perfect, lots of sunshine and warm temps. A lovely turkey dinner on Sunday. Mike had put the turkey in to cook and I finished the rest of supper when I got home from work. We have enough left for another whole meal, lol, and even then have turkey to spare!.

Tonite we got done a yummy spaghetti dinner and some left over birthday cake, then I got Hannah bathed and cut Cody and Colin's hair.

My oldest turned 16 on Easter Sunday. Cody loved his birthday gifts and we all played his favourite game, Cranium. Well that was after Mike and him had a go at poker, which they were also watching on tv. I actually got to see the very end of Desperate Housewives that nite as I crawled into bed just before 10. I have Tuesday and Wednesday off finally though. Tomorrow promises to be sunny and warmer than we have been so I'm thinking a run into town may be in store for me, seeing how I am here all alone. Yes it's finally back to school for the kids who first had their March Break and are now working on two four day weeks! Must be nice, lol!

Oh, forgot to mention....yesterday morning as I was playing Easter Bunny before I left for work, I was barely finished and Colton came downstairs!! Pheww...almost caught in the act! He noticed that the Easter Bunny had not left anything for me, (I always get Mike at least a bunny that the kids get) and was was happy to hear when I got home from work that the Easter Bunny had left something for me there!

Nite

Well it's time for me to hit the sack.

I left for work at 6 this morning and got home after 7.
My feet were aching when I got out of the van...eek!
I think I will go to bed early and that way I can get up
early to play Easter Bunny, lol, before I go to work.

I wrapped Cody's presents last nite and he wants to
know if he can open them in the morning even though
I'm not here. He wants to spend the day watching
his Rocky movies, lol!

Mike will put the turkey in and I'll do the rest of the meal
when I get home tomorrow...MMMMMMM...I can't
wait even though it's only been a week since we
had a nice turkey dinner at my sisters!

Working for the Weekend

Well I'm working all of the long weekend, 4 in a row. But I just think about all that time and a half, lol. Plus today the boss asked me to extend my shift tomorrow because they don't have a cook for the afternoon (again!) so that will be overtime plus overtime for Sunday morning too because I work so late tomorrow....ahhhh...again, just think about the money not the time, lol!!

So we aren't doing anything this weekend. Though on Sunday it will be Cody's 16th Birthday so I am cooking a turkey (well Mike will be, lol) and we will have birthday cake for dessert.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Our Easter Dinner

We had a wonderful time at my sisters yesterday. The traffic in Toronto was good thankfully, and we stopped for lunch at Mr. Sub on the way.

We had turkey dinner and homemade pecan pie (done by my bil) for dessert plus birthday cake for Andy who turned one. My bil even sent us home with our very own pie!

We didn't leave until after 9:30 which didn't put us home till almost 1 in the morning. I had to keep stopping along the highway because I was too sleepy to drive, lol, I think it must have been all that Butterball turkey I ate!
Anyway Mike finally took the wheel about an hour from home and we all went straight to bed when we got here.

I've got a bit of a headache today and feel like going back to bed already.

Cody cooks supper

This is what it was like last nite as Cody, our 15 y/o was trying to cook us supper in the kitchen!

He saw me coming, and I couldn't have timed it better because as I turned the corner to take the pic, the spaghetti came tumbling out of the package and all over the floor in front of him!! I told him that is what happens when you are trying to cook and play electric guitar at the same time!! (in your jammies, no less!lol, yes he is taking full advantage of the March Break!)

Supper was excellent actually, lol!

Colin said he found a hair in the spaghetti and we said that's because it was on the floor and Cody picked it up and put it back in the pot, lol! Which he really did!!!

Ah well, it was being boiled anyway!

He treated me to supper again tonite. I worked late and he said he would cook...no guitar this time though, lol!

March Break

 Yep, March Break here too!

The kids were home alone today because I had to work,
but when I got home at 3:30 they had all the dishes done,
the living room tidied up,
and I just now finished eating a nice warm brownie
that Colin baked from scratch!!

Not a whole lot of plans for March Break here,
I am hoping to get more boxes out of here ready for
the yard sale we will be having this summer.
And maybe we will finally get that wall painted in Colin's
room, lime green to match his dresser!

Jetsgo Goes Under...travellers stranded

 Imagine this...

...you have saved and saved for a trip, bought your round trip airplane tickets, got to your destination and then you hear in the news that the airline company has gone bankrupt and your tickets are no good anymore!!! The company suggests that you make alternate arrangements to get yourself back home again!!!

That's what happened here in Canada to thousands of people..some who have bought their tickets already and not left yet, some who are stranded who knows where and now have to fork out money for a ride home again.

Our government wants nothing to do with helping these people out...but you can bet your $ if it was another airline in another country that stranded our people, they would be screaming for compensation...something to help out their citizens!!

I really feel bad for all of those people who got ripped off and even worse for the people that were left standing in line to come home only to be told their ticket was no good!!

You can read more about it HERE.

How We Spent our International Women's Day

Colin and I had a fabulous day!! We stopped at the school here first because Hannah lost her Scholastic book order and it was due today(even though I had told her countless times to leave it alone or she would lose it and not get any books) Well I caved and stopped to fill in another one and leave the money with the teacher. Her teacher said Hannah had already asked 3 times that morning if she had an extra book order for her to take home, lol!!

Then we were off to the radio station in the city to pick up four McDonald's coupons for free meal deals that I had won on the radio a few weeks ago. Then of course off to Micky D's to use them, lol!! When I explained to them that Colin was vegetarian they let us exchange his burger for a garden salad.

Then we were off to No Frills to do a little grocery shopping and we stopped at Value Village (a large second hand store) where we didn't find any really great deals, they still wanted $18 for a pair of jeans that he wanted. I thought that was a little much for used pants.

Then we went to main street and picked up our plackards that we would hold from 3:30 till 4:00 standing at the end of one of the main intersections there. I was surprised to see so many people really, especially since it was a high of about -8 and the wind was making it seem much, much colder!!! I bet there were at least 70 of us there all making a wall of women who had been ostricized because of their sex and their efforts at attaining equality for women. There were alot of reporters there taking pictures and if I should get one in the paper tomorrow I will post for you all to see. Colin was very impressed I think and said it was worth missing school for. Then on the way home we stopped at Tim Horton's where we didn't win anything rrrrrr..olling up the rrrrrim, lol!!

Good Morning

Well I'm up and at 'em even though I managed to stay up

and catch that Oprah Winfrey movie called
Their Eyes Were Watching God.
It was 2 1/2 hours long and wasn't over till 2:30 in the morning.
It was pretty good.

We woke this morning to see that one of my youngest son's newts
had died. We had put him in a different bowl yesterday when we
noticed that he had lost a leg and had a big scar on his neck!!
I think they must be cannibals!!yuck

Hannah and Colin are home with me today. Colin
was happy to find out that Mike had already left for work
and hadn't left him with a list of chores to be done today
while he is home on suspension, lol.

Good Morning

We had a great time at my sisters.

My mom who had walking pneumonia in late December is still
not feeling the greatest. She says this cold keeps coming and going
and she just can't seem to shake it. Scares me a LOT knowing
that she smokes so much!!

We didn't get home till 11 last nite and everyone went straight to
bed. I played around on the computer a little. I didn't get up till 8:15 this morning and
I'm still in my jammies, lol!!
Gonna go have a shower in a minute though, just thought I'd
pop in

It's Friday!

And that means the weekend is here!

And this is my weekend off!

We are going to my sisters tomorrow for her son's birthday.
Mike won't be coming with us, but we are used to that, he is staying
home to do hay because he has already made plans to pick
up another pony on Sunday.

I told the kids we would stop at McD's for lunch on the way there.
It's about an hour and 10 minute drive from here, so not too bad
and the weather is supposed to be nice, thank goodness!

I spent this morning doing my hair!!
Finally, lol!! I got a really bad cut last time I went and
you couldn't even tell I had spent $18 on it and I really should
have went back and told them that.
Anyway I finally just stopped yesterday on my way home
from work, I thought if I don't do it right now when I had some
money in my pocket and a little time alone then I would just keep
putting it off longer.
So this morning I put a hair dye in it and for under $20 I got
a whole new look! Yes, it only cost me $12.50 to get it cut because
I found someplace different and they did a good job so I think
I will be going back there from now on.

Got a call from the school today and my 14 y/o has been
suspended for a day (monday) because him and a whole group of
boys were throwing snowballs. They were way out in the field by
themselves and the lady teacher that was on just kept watching them
and finally after 15 minutes she didn't think she could handle the
situation herself so she went inside the school to get the principal
to do it!! He told me they were being suspended for not only throwing
the snowballs, which all the kids know is a big no-no, but also for
blatantly disrepecting authority. Well I asked him if the teacher told them
to stop and he said no, and I told him that I thought that would have
taken care of the whole situation. If she thought it was so dangerous
then why didn't she even try to stop them? Also maybe she didn't
want to walk way out there? It's not like she couldn't have yelled though
they do it all the time, lol!!
Anyway, I'll quit rambling, lol, as you can see I get like a mother bear,
especially when I know that son is one of the most respectful kids I know.
So I did ask the principal if he realized that all of the boys he just
suspended were supposed to get their Grade 8 grad pics taken on
Monday and I don't think he did realize this. He said 'Well I guess
maybe they could come in at 11:30 when the photographer will be here
and get them done'. I said what about all the parents that work?
He was dumbfounded and said they would figure something out
by the end of the day.
O.k, I know....I'll shut up already LOL!!!
I'm sure my son will be happy to have the day off though.
It'll be a holiday for them all, which is another thing I don't get
about suspensions!!?? When we were in school we had to write lines
or something, we didn't get a day off, lol.

Footprints

So I'm on the computer this morning and Hannah says 'Mommy come and see what I made for you!'

This is what she had to show me, lol!!

I asked her who got their footprints all over my wall
and she said 'Silly mummy, they're mine!' lol
Quite an artist I have here eh?

Branch Davidians

I remember being glued to the tv the whole while they were trying to get them to come out of the house. Watching that first gun battle where some of the ATF guys were actually killed. Watching as they let some of the little kids come out and the police playing loud music and shining bright lights, cutting off their power. It was like something out of a movie.

So I did happen to be watching the live coverage when they went in with the bulldozers and the fire started. It was all so surreal, hard to believe that it was actually happening and I was straining to see some people come out, send out the kids who were left inside...but of course they didn't.

Hard to believe it was that long ago though...wow.
