Well, I have to work for the weekend,

The rambling thoughts of a 50 something mom of four.
Well, I have to work for the weekend,
Gonna say goodnite.
It was from work!! And she was saying 'Gee, I've got you down to work today'!!! I was thinking this was my only day off this week and then back to work until next Monday but apparently tomorrow, was my only day off...well now I have two off!!
I can't believe that I got it mixed up, but I told her that I've already made plans to pick the kids up from the school and the library so I would just have to take this as an absent day!!
It's a beautiful sunny day here too but
I was just sending all the kids to the bus this morning and dreaming about my day I get to spend all to myself when the phone rang. Yep, it was my boss, who asked if I could come in to work...and I went and said alright before I knew what I was doing, lol!!! I just keep thinking about how nice the extra money is though
so I'll have to wait till next week for my 'me' day!
Well Hannah and I were home today. Spent the morning doing laundry and cleaning up the dining room. Didn't want to do too much though as it's the Chinese New Year and I heard on the radio that they don't do a whole lot of housecleaning today because it's said it may sweep out all of the good vibes with the dust. Sounds good to me!!lol
This afternoon we went to pick up the boys from school and Cody from the library where he is still volunteering even though he's already accumulated his 40 hours he needs to graduate high school. The big boys picked up some tools for Mike, who turned 39 today (and officially holding, lol) We also needed some eggs to bake his cake. When we got home the little ones made him a card and they waited and waited and waited some more for dad to come home!
He had gone to a farm show in Toronto and didn't get back till 9:30 tonite after everyone had fallen asleep waiting for cake and ice cream. I was given strict orders that he doesn't get to unwrap presents now till they all get up in the morning, lol!!
Alright, I'm starting to get a little worried about my memory.
I was thinking of spring this morning when I woke and heard the birds singing outside the window. But I'm afraid to get my hopes up even though we are having a wonderful high today of +8, because I know there is another winter storm just lurking out there somewhere, lol! The kids and Mike are all home today so it's a three day weekend here.
The kids and I had a great day Saturday when we went to the city to shop. Got some great deals on cd's (a new Don Williams to add to my collection of oldies, lol), dvd's (my 14 y/o added to his collection a new Lord of the Rings that he didn't have yet) and my 15 y/o wanted to add the Rocky collection to his stash and was intent on buying it. No matter how I tried I couldn't talk him out of spending his money on that, not to mention he was a little short and wanting a loan, lol, and finally after all of my efforts I had to let him in on the secret that I already purchased this for him at Christmas time and was saving it for his birthday!!
Colton came home with a Lord of the Rings game for the Gameboy Advance and also with two new pets. Red-bellied Newts. They are kinda cute and ya gotta love the internet for the never ending source of material on how to care for them. Hannah came home with a small baby care pack. Diapers, food bottles, even a potty, lol!!
We stopped at McD's for supper and didn't get back home till around 8 after driving all the way in the thick, thick fog!
I hope everyone's day is as sunshiny as ours is here! Hugs, Joni
Well Hannah and I didn't pick too great an afternoon to be going into town!!
We got there and there were police all over the place detouring everyone from the center of town, where it turns out there was a bomb scare in one of the banks!! We ate lunch at McDonald's and watched the commotion from inside and before we were finished the police had left so apparently it was a hoax. Just like the one last week in a town not far from here..thank goodness!!
It was such a wonderful day to be walking around town and we visited the thrift store next. We found a pair of pants for one of the boys, a robe for one of the boys and a cute pair of gloves for Hannah. Sometimes you can really hit the jackpot there and other days not, lol! Still we were happy with our purchases.
We also had to drop off a water sample from our well at the local Health Unit where it will be sent away for testing. I am expecting it to come back the same as always, not drinkable. Since the boys were little I have been bringing water home from work for drinking because we had the well tested once and it had an e-coli reading so we've just brought water in ever since. We were told we could just boil it for 3 minutes or add a drop of bleach but we felt safer getting it elsewhere, especially when we kept having more babies and more babies, lol!!
Then off to that darned old grocery store again and I barely managed to come out of there under $100!! So what's new right?? I stopped for ketchup, lol!!!
Well I'm off to play on the computer as I've only 3/4's of an hour before the boys are home from school and they'll be wanting their turn. Have a sunshiney day!!
Hannah and I are on our way to town.
